Crossing the Island continued...

After in-depth discussions of favorite landscapes and walks, a story emerged of a long, wet yomp over a mountain to a remote bothy to sleep and the next morning, a glimmer of low sunshine suddenly revealing a whole landscape of fields, houses, barns and pathways as subtle shadows on the bare hillside.

This story totally evokes the nature of the Highland landscape for me so I was very pleased to be able to revisit my favorite theme and to approach it with a new colour palette. Because of the long thin nature of the design, the narrative had to be episodic and in horizontal bands, it needed to read as sections and as a whole. I wanted the bottom section to be more photographic and for the piece to get more abstract towards the top.
